Emergency Towing & Salvage Operations

When a vessel is in distress — whether grounded, listing, flood-threatened or rendered helpless by machinery failure — time is the most critical factor. DynaRep's network of salvage partners maintains salvage tugs and response teams on standby at key strategic locations, enabling rapid mobilisation under Lloyd's Open Form (LOF), BIMCO Salvcon, or bespoke commercial agreements tailored to the owner's requirements.

Our salvage capabilities include:

  • Emergency response and situation assessment, available 24/7
  • Dispatch of high-powered ocean-going salvage tugs
  • Refloating of grounded vessels using anchor-laying, dredging and dewatering techniques
  • Firefighting support from specialised fire-fighting tugs
  • Stabilisation and temporary patching to allow vessels to be brought to a safe haven
  • Coordination with port authorities, flag state and P&I clubs throughout the operation
  • Post-salvage survey and damage assessment

Every salvage operation is different, and our partners bring the flexibility, experience and equipment to adapt rapidly to changing on-scene conditions, always with environmental protection as a core priority.

Dead Ship Towing

A dead ship tow is one of the most technically demanding operations in maritime work. A vessel with no operational propulsion, steering or auxiliary systems presents unique challenges in terms of rigging, weather windows, passage planning and crew safety. DynaRep can arrange the provision of suitable ocean-going tugs, complete with experienced masters and towing masters, for both coastal and deep-sea dead ship tows.

DynaRep can arrange:

  • Assessment of the vessel's condition and determination of tow configuration
  • Supply of ocean-going tugs with high bollard pull, matched to vessel size and route conditions
  • Preparation of a towage plan including passage plan, weather routing and contingency procedures
  • Compliance with all applicable regulations and classification society requirements for towage
  • Attendance of a towing master on board the towed vessel when required
  • Delivery of the vessel to a shipyard, anchorage or port of owner's choice

Ship-to-Ship (STS) Transfer Operations

Ship-to-ship (STS) cargo transfer operations require precise coordination, specialised equipment and experienced personnel to be executed safely and in compliance with MARPOL, OCIMF STS guidelines and applicable local regulations.

DynaRep is able to source and provide:

  • Escort and mooring tugs to assist vessels at STS anchorages or designated offshore transfer zones
  • Pneumatic fenders and mooring equipment of the appropriate size and specification
  • STS superintendents and marine supervisors with OCIMF-recognised qualifications
  • Pollution prevention and spill response standby equipment during transfer operations
  • Liaison with port and coastal state authorities for all required permits and notifications

Our network covers key STS zones in European, Mediterranean, Black Sea and West African waters, with access to partners globally for operations further afield.

Riding Teams & Afloat Repair Services

When a vessel suffers a machinery breakdown, hull damage, or an equipment failure that cannot wait until the next port call, dispatching a specialist riding repair team directly to the vessel is often the fastest and most cost-effective solution.

DynaRep can mobilise riding teams for vessels at anchorage, drifting offshore or on passage, covering a wide range of disciplines:

  • Main engine and auxiliary machinery repairs — including crankshaft, piston and liner work
  • Turbocharger overhaul and emergency repairs
  • Propeller, shaft and stern tube repairs at anchorage
  • Underwater hull cleaning, propeller polishing and emergency diving inspections
  • Electrical and automation system fault diagnosis and repair
  • Hydraulic system repairs — hatch covers, cranes, mooring winches
  • Hull plating emergency repairs and temporary patching
  • Welding, fabrication and structural steel repairs

Riding teams can be flown to any port or embarked from a launch or workboat to vessels at anchorage. All riding team personnel are vetted professionals with current STCW certificates and relevant specialist qualifications.

24 / 7 Emergency Response: Maritime emergencies do not keep office hours. DynaRep is reachable around the clock for all urgent salvage, towing and offshore assistance requests. Contact us immediately at +30 6937454494 or dynarep@dynarep.gr and we will activate the appropriate resources without delay.

Offshore Bunkering & Logistical Support

For vessels requiring bunkers or lubricants offshore — at anchorage, at an offshore terminal or at a ship-to-ship transfer position

DynaRep can arrange the full logistical package, including:

  • Provision of bunker barges and supply vessels with compliant fuel to the required specification
  • Supply of escort and mooring tugs for safe alongside operations in open anchorages
  • Independent fuel quantity and quality surveying
  • Coordination with local port authority and customs for offshore bunker deliveries
  • Emergency dry cargo and provisions delivery by fast workboat to vessels at anchor

Anti-Pollution & Environmental Response

Environmental protection is a cornerstone of all salvage and offshore operations. Our partners maintain certified anti-pollution equipment including boom, skimmers, dispersants and specialist recovery vessels, in compliance with MARPOL and local coastal state requirements.

Services available include:

  • Oil spill containment and boom deployment around distressed vessels
  • Oil recovery skimming operations
  • Coordination with HAZMAT and environmental authorities
  • Wreck removal and seabed clearance operations following sinkings or casualties
  • Preparation and submission of response documentation required by port and coastal state authorities

For all enquiries relating to salvage and offshore services — whether an ongoing emergency or advance planning for contingency arrangements — please do not hesitate to reach our team directly. DynaRep Shipping Consultants will identify the right partner, negotiate competitive commercial terms on your behalf, and remain involved throughout the operation to ensure seamless coordination and communication.
